- Comodo Firewall. (XP,Vista, 7 only)
- AVG anti-virus. A free anti-virus pgm. Even the updates are free. (XP)
- Ad-aware. This pgm removes spyware from your computer. (XP)
- SpywareBlaster. After Ad-aware removes the spyware from your computer use this pgm to keep it from coming back. (XP)
- Start Page Guard. At startup this pgm will prevent unscrupulous websites from hijacking your homepage on your browser. (XP?)
- Pop-Up Stopper. (XP)
- Crazy Browser. A nice free browser that blocks pop-ups among other functions.(XP)
- Opera. Another good free
browser that blocks pop-ups. It has more features than Crazy Browser
like filling in passwords & usernames for you at secure websites
when you want. Since this browser does not use Internet Explorer's
shell it contains its own download manager & does not have security
flaws like IE. (XP)
- Opera BackupX 0.4.
With Opera-BackupX you can save your Opera bookmarks, notes and search
configuration files any where you like. Requirements: .NET Framework.

- Cookienator. Removes tracking cookies. (XP)
- AM Deadlink.
This pgm checks for dead links & duplicate links in your Internet
Explorer, Opera and Firefox favorites. It allows you to either delete

- WebMon.
WebMon is a freeware web page update monitoring program - it saves you
time and keeps you updated by automatically checking web pages to see
if they have changed. (XP)
- Batchrun. This free pgm allows you to run more than one pgm/file at a single click. (XP)
- Empty Temp Folder.
I use this pgm to do housecleaning on my computer. At startup it
empties out my Recycle Bin, my temp folder, cookies, + some other
folders. It can also find broken shortcuts. It runs at startup, does
its thing, then goes away. (XP)
- Rainbow Folders.
This pgm allows you to change the color of selected folder icons. The
program works by modifying the desktop.ini file, so it does not have to
be kept running all the time - only add or remove colors from folders.

- File Seek. Non-indexed desktop file and folder search program. (XP, Vista, 7 only)
- Drop It. Can move, copy, compress, extract, rename, list or delete your files. (XP, Vista, 7 only)
- Always Sync. Is a free file and folder synchronization program. (XP)
- ePrompter.The
pgm allows you to read in text format email from multiple email accts
including Hotmail. You can also delete the email once you read it.
Since it reads your email in text format you cannot get viruses from
this pgm when you read your email. (XP)
- Email Sentinel Pro.
Email Sentinel Pro works with POP3, IMAP, and HTTP (Hotmail) accounts,
automatically converting incoming HTML email into plain text. You can
also block certain types of attachments, including .exe and .vbs. (XP)
- Email Stripper. This pgm removes out the >>> produced by forwarded email. (XP)
- Spamhilator.
Spamihilator works between your E-Mail client and the Internet and
examines every incoming E-Mail. Filters out useless spam mails. It also
has a safe list where you can put your contacts so it never treats them
as spam. It also can filter out potentially harmful file attachments
like .exe and .vbs. (XP)
- H-Menu. This
is a front-end file manager to Windows. It is good for hiding folders
& shortcuts off of your desktop & only accessing them from a
menu on the edges of your desktop when you need them. (XP)
- Jet Tool Bar.
Another front-end file manager to Windows. Pretty good. I use this one
now because the H-Menu's menus would pop up when you were playing
games. This one does not have this problem.
- ObjectDock. And yet another front-end file manager. Cool. (XP, Vista, 7 only)
- T3Desk. T3Desk
lets you manage your applications more easily in a 3D desktop adding
the third dimension to your Windows screen. This pgm is nice if you
have a lot of pgms running at once on your desktop. (XP, Vista, 7 only)
- Minimem. Reduces memory leakage. (XP/2003/Vista/7 only)
- Regcleaner.
Registry editor. I use to clean my registry of unused keys. I use it to
remove entries from my startup because it does not ask you to restart
your computer. (XP)
- Erunt and NTRegOpt. Emergency registry recovery and registry optimization. (XP, Vista only)
- Startup Optimizer. A good replacement for msconfig. (XP)
- Crap Cleaner. It removes
unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and
freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your
online activities such as your Internet history. (XP)
- iSysCleaner Pro. System optimization tool. (XP & Vista)
- EasyCleaner. Cleans your registry and removes unused files like temp files from your system. (XP)
- WinDirStat. A disk usage statistics viewer and cleanup tool. (XP)
- Mouse Jiggler. Jiggles the mouse so your screen saver does not come on. (XP, Vista, 7)
- DirectX Buster.
Removes direct x from your computer, so you can reinstall the same
version of direct x (in case it got corrupted) or downgrade to a lower
version. It also allows you to backup your direct x files &
registry keys before you remove the direct x files.
- Belarc Advisor.
This pgm gives you the specs on your computer like your processor
speed, memory, hard drive, etc. It also shows what pgms are installed
on your computer. (XP)
- Speccy. An advanced System Information tool. ( XP, Vista & 7)
- Net Ants. A good pgm for downloading files off the internet. (XP)
- Free Download Manager. Another good pgm for downloading files. (XP & Vista)
- Winzip. A popular file compressing pgm. (XP)
- Extract Now. Another file compressing pgm. This pgms could open compressed files that Winzip could not. (XP)
- Power Defrag. A good
defragger that uses the Windows defragger pgm. It's nice because it
will restart your computer & stop it before it reaches your desktop
then does the defrag so nothing is running in the background. It also
has a scandisk on it too. (XP)
- Defraggler.
A defragging tool. It differs from other defrag tools on the market, by
enabling you to quickly and simply defrag the files you want to,
without having to process the whole drive. (XP, Vista, & 7)
- FreeMeter.
This pgm allows you to monitor CPU usage, memory usage, hard drive
usage, etc. I use it mainly for monitoring my memory resources. (XP?)
- TheSage. English dictionary and thesaurus. (XP)
- Speakonia. A free text-to-speech graphical user-interface program. Free registration. (XP)
- Responding Heads. Enables you to launch programs, commands and actions via voice commands spoken into your PC microphone. (XP only)
- Stickies. A computerized version of Post-It® Notes. (XP)
- Birthday Reminder. Alerts you to birthdays you need to remember, in advance of those dates. (XP)
- AutoStitch demo. The
user simply selects a set of images using the windows interface, and
the software automatically stitches them into a panorama. (XP)
- Turn Off LCD. Turns off notebook's LCD with one click. (XP, Vista only)
All pgms are win 98/ME compatible unless otherwise noted.
Pgms with a (XP) are definitely win XP compatible.
Pgms with a (XP?) are maybe compatible with XP. They might be since they are compatible with win 2000.
